On the Opinion Page: March 1, 2008
In which The Gay Recluse scores selected opinion pieces in The Times.
Bob Herbert/A Nominee? Or a Debacle?
The Short Version: Tuesday’s Democratic primaries could either determine the nominee or not.
In his words: “That would also cause bad feelings that would be difficult to assuage.”
The Score: C-(Customary)
This is a good piece for someone who has just returned from a three-month trip to the moon.
Gail Collins/Of Ohio, Texas and Onion Dip
The Short Version: Who’s going to win on Tuesday? Who knows? (Who cares?)
In her words: “As far as I can tell, there aren’t any geniuses or villains in this business, just people who guess right and people who charge too much. ”
Score: B- (Boring)
Maybe we’re just feeling grouchy today, but we found Collins’ column today — a satirical Q&A with an idiotic voter — a little too predictable to be entertaining.
